Summary
Tomb Raider: Legend revives the athletic, intelligent and entertaining adventurer who won the hearts and minds of gamers worldwide. Lara comes alive with intricately animated expressions, moves and abilities. An arsenal of modern equipment, such as a magnetic grappling device, binoculars, frag grenades, personal lighting device and communications equipment, allows gamers to experience tomb raiding as never before. Eidos and Crystal Dynamics shaped Lara's look and movements to be an inherent extension of her skills, motivation and personality. Lara's character model features natural structure, realistic textures, detailed facial features, reactive eyes and fluid motion, all of which make her part of a living environment. New character animations and controls allow her to move through stunning environments with grace and precision, while an understanding of the game's original appeal reinvigorates the fundamental explore-and-solve adventure experience. A really enjoyable adventure with thrilling acrobatics, spectacular locations and satisfying rewards. [January 2007, p.66]
Worth Playing
Despite a few rough edges, I can say something I haven't been able to say in nearly a decade: I'm actually looking forward to the next Tomb Raider game.

Crystal Dynamics has accomplished the impossible. Lara is back in our good graces and we can't wait to see how her next adventure unfolds. We never thought we'd say that again, but times change.

Tomb Raider: Legend is a very good action adventure game on the GameCube, which makes it all the more disappointing that it ends so quickly.

Still, Legend is a breath of fresh air for Tomb Raider fans, and a solid GCN debut for Ms. Croft. [Jan. 2007, p.116]
NTSC-uk
It won't be heralded a classic but it is certainly a welcome return to form for a franchise that was beginning to appear languid and certainly promises a lot for Crystal Dynamics' next game which is a reinvention of the original Tomb Raider.

Jeff P. gave it a5:
Wonderful graphics and action, and nicely challenging, but there's a crash problem near the end of its England section that the game company refuses to acknowledge or deal with. This crash is also occurring on XBox 360, Playstation, and other platforms. Be warned!
