Summary

In the tradition of Nintendo EAD classics like Wave Race 64 and Star Fox 64, 1080° Snowboarding sets a new gold standard in graphics, play control and sound. Whether you're sticking a Stalefish in the half pipe or a 720 Air in a raging blizzard, 1080° delivers snowboarding action so real you'll be checking your nose for frostbite! Graphically, 1080° delivers the most breathtaking mountain vistas this side of the Himalayas. Richly detailed texture maps of rocks, snow caves, glacial lakes, trees, cabins and more fully immerse you in a wintry wonderland. 1080°'s wealth of effects include falling snow, lens flares, flickering torches and wake powder blowing back at the screen. The frame rate is as smooth as polished ice for all camera angles -- including looking backwards up the mountain! [Nintendo]

The racing's intense, addictive, and great fun as you battle through three tournaments to unlock tracks and other secrets.

Excellent. Simply tearing down the mountain is a joy and the ability to pick your way down the mountain is something nice to see. 1080 is definitely a game that will be played again and again.

Gaming Age

The most realistic snowboarding game ever created, and one of the most enjoyable as well. What really sets this game apart from the rest of the pack are its exquisite graphics and near-perfect control.

It's the balance between realism and arcade that makes this game fun. One of the best games to touch the Nintendo 64 connectors.

Total Video Games

This game's realistic, it's not an arcade dumbing down of snowboarding a la Coolboarders, but a simulation of it. The best snowboarding game on the market.

All Game Guide

While the presentation is nice, the control is the game's biggest strength. It's highly technical and takes some time to get the hang of, but it's worth it. This title addresses some issues of snowboarding (the sport) that few games have.

IGN

In my opinion, it doesn't beat Nintendo's best racer, "Wave Race," but it provides the same remarkable gameplay that just "feels" right. Snowboarding fanatic or not, you must own this game.

Probably the most perfect control method yet seen in a simulation and probably the most realistic simulation of the real sport you're likely to get without blowing a month's wages on a pair of uncomfortable sunglasses.

GameSpot

1080 Snowboarding is the best snowboarding game around. Control is some of the most involving in racing. Innovative level design and gameplay that requires skill add up to one of the best values in both sports and racing gaming.

Electric Playground

The gameplay is unquestionably flawless. But the game is too easy, too short and simply lacking in the kind of depth that will keep players enthralled for months at a time.1080 Snowboarding is so close to being a classic it just makes me weep to think about it.

The same folks behind "Wave Race" took the temperature down a few degrees. [Jan 2004, p.189]

Game Revolution

Where other snowboard games have failed, 1080 succeeds, with superb graphics, great gameplay, and some, uh, bitchen air, dude. This is the best snowboard game out and a must for sports fans, period.

1080 offers everything you could realistically and unrealistically want from a snowboarding game. If you're a N64 gamer and snowboarding fan, well then, aren't you lucky.

There is a problem, and that is that jumping, or rather landing jumps, is rather hard (cue Indiana Jones: "Fly, yes. Land, no"). No matter how hard you try, it seems that the race keeps slipping away from your grasp because you can't land properly after a jump.

Jeffrey T. gave it a10:
Finally a realistic snowboarding game. Nothing even compares. I just bought the 64 system and game in 2005 because even now no snowboarding game has been close to matching this game's controls and ability to capture the actual sport of snowboarding as thoroughly as 1080. What can I say "1080 is an unparalled masterpiece combining perfect controls and exquisite visuals"

Justice C. gave it an 8:
This game is A-OK.Only thing I don't like this game is because the fact that Dragon Cave has 4 or 5 shortcuts, and then there is those poor graphics.

Robert A. gave it a 9:
So fun it hurts your hands !!!

J. Baker gave it a 10:
I've been playing this game since the day it game out. Well, not everyday. 5 years of game play isn't bad for a game at all. Very well designed. After beating the game it's best to play the trick modes with a friend. Hours of game play or should I say years.

Anthony V. gave it a 2:
It sucks there's no point to the game and did i mention its boring?
