Summary

G-Force is a fast-paced action-platform game featuring a unique elite team of specially trained guinea pigs that use high-tech gadgets and specialized talents to complete a dangerous government mission. G-Force puts players in control of both Darwin, the guinea pig leader of the covert intelligence G-Force squad, and housefly surveillance sidekick, Mooch, as they team up with the other G-Force agents and use their gadgets, stealth mastery and pint-sized teamwork as mankinds only hope to complete a dangerous high-level government mission. G-Force uses innovative gameplay featuring a unique sense of scale, puzzle solving that requires players to manipulate environments and enemies, including diabolical waffle irons among evil household appliances. G-Force was a shock to me. Rarely do I find myself actually wanting to play a game of this type outside of reviewing it, but I found myself coming back to it over and over to finish it out.

Gamers who enjoyed the movie could do worse than this well-polished platformer.

All in all, G-Force is a game that doesn’t necessarily excel in any one area, but also doesn’t fall drastically short of its goal.

Worth Playing

Gimmicks aside, G-Force is an enjoyable game. The controls are solid, the graphics are quite good and the sound is better than expected.

Fun combat and crafty puzzles make this a good companion to the blockbuster movie.

IGN

Yes, the story will be an enigma if you haven't seen the flick and sometimes levels can seem like they go on and on, but collecting data discs, solving puzzles by flipping between Mooch and Darwin, and blowing up possessed blenders is fun.

PSFocus

G-Force is mostly for young gamers. It’s got basic gameplay, basic graphics and basic audio. As one total package a nice game.

G-Force is a solid movie tie-in that will please the 10- to 12-year-olds. The game doesn't do anything particularly well, but isn't doing anything wrong either. Don't expect a challenging game though, because of the repetitive elements and the helping hand that are offered it doesn't pack a punch. Of course, that’s to be expected in a children’s game.

Offers a few hours of decent shooting at $10 less than the average Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 video game.

The nice surprise is that it's entertaining and polished enough that you're not gonna need to swill that rat poison you were initially planning on feeding to the guinea pigs. [Sept 2009, p.80]

Cheat Code Central

Despite my initial trepidation about a shooter-style kid-movie tie-in, G-Force actually manages to be a competent game that goes beyond the tried and true platforming format.

One of the better kid-specific action titles. But like so many movie-based games, G-Force is very repetitive.

For fans of the film, you’ll probably be more than satisfied in what Eurocom cooked up even if the adventure is rather short.

A "solid" game: It works great on a technical level, and presents enough challenge to engage veteran players, but also enough on-screen direction and help to make it accessible to the game's younger audience -- it's just too long.

G-Force is nice, but not for serious gamers. However, the game deserves a six, because there's a lot of action, which makes it a little more fun to play, but it's still made for children.

Eurocom have captured the look and feel of the film perfectly and the characterisation (complete with the real cast doing voiceovers) is superb.

If you have any love for the little rodents left once you’re done, go ahead and buy G-Force for your home console. Otherwise, wait until the game inevitably finds its way into the bargain bin, and then pick it up if you’re curious.

G-Force is fairly paint-by-numbers. When this game hits the target audience, kids playing this are likely to be hooked by the smooth gameplay and lengthy missions.

A breath of fresh air in the world of licensed movie tie-ins. [Issue#183, p.77]

Game Revolution

The game mechanics, voice acting, and enemy designs are all wonderfully polished. But if people could live on polish alone, there’d be gourmet restaurants serving linoleum and fingernails. A game should first and foremost be enjoyable. G-Force’s downfall is in its repetitive puzzle design, bland visuals, and antiquated 3D technology.

Interestingly enough, G-Force manages to avoid many of the obvious traps that most license games fall into, and has a few interesting ideas and pretty nice graphics. But ultimately the game is far too repetitive, and there are many other suitable games for younger players out there.
