If you enjoy the Street Fighter series, or the Marvel fighting games that Capcom made back in the day then this is one you shouldn't miss.

Overall, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is pretty much a picture-perfect port that won't disappoint fans or newcomers to the series. [Sept. 2009, p.82]
IGN
In my eyes, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is among the best fighting games ever crafted and I'm thrilled to have it on a modern platform. I judge this port--especially the PS3 version--"worthy."

Capcom’s called it “the best fighting game net code ever created for consoles”. We’re inclined to agree. When all is said and done, if you’re a fighting game fan MvC2 is an essential purchase.

The finest brawler that's currently available on PlayStation Network. [Issue#182, p.82]
TotalPlayStation
A fighting classic that is truly worthy of your hard-earned cash!

Still a magnificent fighter but it lacks new features and the depth of its stable mates. [Sept 2009, p.80]
GameFocus
It may not be the most diverse package and it certainly won’t convert the non-believers, but for those who have fond memories of insane Wolverine and Spiderman and Ryu v. Cyclops and Cable and Sentinel bouts, it’s the same great taste you’ve enjoyed for years. And on top of that, it’s way cheaper to buy a copy of this download than any other method of picking up this game.

It's a pretty over-the-top fighter, with a heavy emphasis on flashy supers and specials more than a complex combo/counter system, so it's not going to be for everyone to enjoy. If you're an old fan of the game though, you'll know what to expect.

Taking the 2D online brawlers in the marketplace into account, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is easily the friendlier of the bunch in terms of new players jumping in.

It is the ultimate fighting game experience packed with the most insane and awesome gameplay a fighter has ever seen.

My only serious complaint is that the music utterly sucks in every way and is an affront to mankind that should be excised from the universe by the vengeful spirits of J.S. Bach, Duke Ellington and Hank Williams.

Although there are things to be improved in the online game of Marvel vs Capcom 2, this title is as fun as it was in 2000, and that's quite a thing to say about a videogame.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2: Age of Heroes is a new acquaintance of mine and it's far too hard for our taste. The controls are exact, but difficult to master. This is considered the ultimate tactical fighting game, according to many, and we are inclined to agree. Well worth the money.

A beautiful and OTT retro title, but one where depth is obscured by effects. [Sept 2009, p.68]
GameSpot
The rerelease of this classic brawler will gladly take you for a ride, but the trip isn't without its share of potholes.
