Summary
[WiiWare World] The follow-up to last year's WiiWare launch title once again puts the power of the wind in the palm of your hand, as you experience Toku and Enril's new adventure to save Toku's mother, lift an ancient curse and thwart the evil Balasar. The elemental powers of Enril the Wind Spirit are used to protect and guide the young boy Toku - power his jumps and glides, suspend and smash new enemies, and explore all-new expanses of the stunningly presented, magical land of Mistralis. Players can instantly transform Mistralis between Summer and Winter, harnessing the brilliance of nature: frozen Winter ponds and waterfalls become deep, teeming Summer pools and chambers in which to dive and unlock secrets, enemies can be frozen or doused, and the very air itself used to form snowballs or moisture-laden clouds. Other amazing new abilities include the cyclone, which can be used to transport Toku, smash powerful enemies and even drill through the rock of Mistralis' diverse, richly interactive Chilling Peaks and Melodia City areas. The experience of the first LostWinds has been left unaffected, with a perfect balance between gameplay, graphics and sound. The sequel is even better: it may lack the original sense of wonder, but anyway it delivers a fun and rewarding experience, as it requires both mental effort and a good eye to pad coordination. This with a technical compartment which stands tall, due to the magnificent design and a enchanting melodies. Frontier has delivered another gem, the best WiiWare title and one of the better for the Wii.

The first LostWinds is probably one of the most attractive and interesting games of the Wii (not only WiiWare), and Winter of Melodias completely surpasses it.

With satisfyingly challenging puzzles expertly woven between engaging platforming and a thoroughly charming narrative, Winter of the Melodias represents an essential purchase. It's not simply the best WiiWare title on the market, but one of the best Wii games full stop.

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is definitely a top-tier WiiWare title. It manages to correct most of the flaws with the first game and is an amazing example of why WiiWare is a good idea.

With its ingeniously implemented seasonal puzzles, graceful platforming segments and immersive environment, LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias has successfully triumphed over the faults its predecessor, elevating it to a near-masterpiece.

Frontier Development has once again managed to demonstrate WiiWare's incredible potential. LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is in fact an excellent game, capable of building on its predecessor strengths while solving many of its issues. A must buy for any Wii owner out there.

It's a tightly designed adventure, in other words, and although I'm not willing to mention Winter of the Melodias and its season-switching intricacies in same breath as Link to the Past, Frontier's game certainly makes a decent My First Metroid, bringing the environment and Toku's powers together in a series of clever set-pieces while the map grows ever busier as his agility increases.

The biggest complaints about the original LostWinds were that it was too easy and therefore didn’t take long to complete. Thankfully, both of these issues have been addressed - the difficulty has been upped slightly and the game is quite a bit longer, taking about four hours to complete in its entirety.

The game is simply an absolute joy, and while I would have liked a few more boss battles here and there to lengthen the entire thing out, I can hardly complain about anything else.

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is simply a marvel to play through, with Frontier taking the high quality of the original outing and building upon that strong foundation considerably.

A brilliant sequel that improves on the original in every conceivable department. Essential.

The gorgeous visuals and music, along with the finely tuned motion controls and cheap price point make Winter of the Melodias a guaranteed purchase that is anything but a load of hot air.

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is one of the best downloadable games you will play this year. The sheer amount of detail and care poured into this title secretes from every flick of the Wii remote. The motion controls are better than most every other game on the system and the art directions is absolutely jaw-dropping at times. I cannot recommend this title enough to anyone who enjoys a solid platformer.

Winter of the Melodias continues right where the solid original left off, but adds tons of new puzzles that are there thanks to new moves and abilities (like changing the season) and a bigger world. A lovely snack that’s secretly a lot more fun than most ‘full’ games.

Winter of the Melodias is the best WiiWare title so far. With an outstanding graphic environment and an improved gameplay mechanic, there's nothing much to say other than to recommend the game if you're a Wii / WiiWare user.

Winter of the Melodias is an excellent sequel of the first LostWinds on Wiiware. A charming adventure with original puzzles and new character abilities with a funny gameplay mechanics. The game give us a great chances transforming the world between summer and winter. One of the best games for WiiWare and for Wii.

Melodias is an excellent sequel to one of WiiWare's must-have games. The controls remain as intuitive and engaging as ever. Indeed, the new cyclone power only adds to the great arsenal of wind powers at Toku's disposal.

Clocking in at roughly five hours, it's a fairly short experience. That being said, $10 is a small price to pay for the magic bottled up in this adventure.

Do you enjoy a good-looking game with simple controls and plenty of challenge? Then try LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias, especially if part one captured your heart. Frontier is building on the formula and manage to get an exquisite result. I can't wait for part three and perhaps a full disc-based adventure.

Winter of the Melodias is better and more complete than the first LostWinds, even more unique and poetic; fortunately it's still short, as every haiku should be.

We finished the sequence in the same place where we finished the original: wanting more.

Even with its flaws, this is an excellent title. A lovely game with charisma to spare, Winter of the Melodias shows off WiiWare's true potential.

The perfect candidate for the 100th WiiWare game, LostWinds is on the verge of outgrowing the service it almost single-handedly redeems. [Dec 2009, p.101]
GameSpot
LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias vastly improves upon its predecessor with clever puzzles and vibrant graphics.

Another perfectly crafted adventure that puts to shame most other retail games at five times its price.
LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is a great “in-between games” game. It is undoubtedly one of the best titles I’ve played for WiiWare and can hold it’s own against offerings on other consoles. The gameplay and story are a little more succinct than I’d like, but I suppose that’s the aim of downloadable games.

It’s a more enjoyable and slightly more challenging game than the first, and it’s perfectly suited to the system and to the typical Wii demographic.

A great game that somehow manages to exceed the quality of the first one.
